In one of the highest profile signings in the club’s history, the Albury/Wodonga Commercial Club Bandits Board and Coaching Staff are thrilled to announce the signing of seven time WNBL champion Nat Hurst for the 2019 season. A 163cm point guard, Hurst has a basketball resume that most other Australian players could only dream of. The only player to play in all seven WNBL championships with the Canberra Capitals, Hurst also represented Australia winning a gold medal with the Opals at the 2009 FIBA Oceania Women’s Championships. A former Capitals MVP and WNBL Grand Final MVP, Hurst brings experience, leadership and star power to an exciting roster that has been put together by new Head Coach Lauren Jackson. 2019 will be Hurst’s second stint on the Border having dominated for the Lady Bandits back in 2007, a season in which she was named in the All SEABL First Team. Head Coach Lauren Jackson is thrilled to have secured the services of Hurst for the 2019 season. “I couldn’t be happier to have Nat agree to join the club in 2019. We identified signing a quality point guard as a massive priority and to secure someone of Nat’s calibre is an incredible coup for us. Not only will she provide a massive boost for us on court, but she will also set an excellent example for our young players with her professionalism and work ethic. Having her as part of our squad will not only help us to win games but it will also really accelerate the development of our young group.” Nat is really looking forward to playing on the Border once again. “I’m super excited to be joining the Bandits once again and playing under Lauren. It’s going to be great not only for my basketball but for my partner and son as well as it’s a great family environment”. Hurst is currently competing in the WNBL for the Bendigo Spirit and will join the Commercial Club Lady Bandits in the new year.
The Commercial Club Bandits Welcome Ken-Jah Bosley
The Commercial Club Bandits coaching staff and Board are thrilled to announce the signing of US star Ken-Jah Bosley as our first import signing for the 2019 season! A 6'1 combo guard, Ken-Jah was a three time All Conference player at Kentucky Wesleyan University and has also played professionally in Palestine.
A lightning quick guard with a sweet shooting stroke, Ken-Jah is a dynamic offensive threat with the ability to make plays for himself and his teammates. An excellent marksman, Ken-Jah shot the ball at better than 40% from three point range throughout his college career.
Head Coach Brad Chalmers welcomes the signing of Ken-Jah to help fill one of the clubs play making roles in 2019. “I believe Ken-Jah is a high calibre import with huge potential, having shown consistent excellence as a scorer at college and in his first pro gig. From my conversations with him he seems like a very humble and respectful young man who is up for the challenge and he is known as the ultimate professional in his preparation and play. The feedback has been that we are getting a fantastic person of high character and with a huge amount of talent. We have been blessed the last few years with our imports in this regard and we will be asking him to provide not only direction and leadership on and off the court, but to play a huge role in the mentoring of our young local players over the course of the season”.
Ken-Jah will arrive in March to begin pre-season with the squad.
